Derbyshire Gingerbread
A traditional
Derbyshire gingerbread recipe, not too strong, and not
too hard. Guaranteed to sell out at every market we
do, so we are fairly sure it's a favourite recipe for
most people.
We usually bring an army of gingerbread
men and women with us to each market, but bears, ducks
and snowmen do accompany them from time to time throughout
the year.
We usually leave the shapes plain, with
no decoration, as we do not want to use artificial colourings,
but we can decorate them with chocolate piping if required.
Ingredients: Locally produce
butter, locally produced plain flour, unrefined organic
sugar, golden syrup, ground ginger, baking powder, egg.
